Domestic Routes

Kefalonia International Airport (EFL) is located 8 Km west of Argostoli which is the island’s capital of Κefalonia.
The easiest way to reach your destination from the airport is by renting a car or getting a taxi. Since Fiscardo is 56 Km away from the airport, in case you do not rent a car, we would advise you to book a private transfer by contact us.

There is at least one direct fight from/to Athens per day during winter time and during the summer period there are two scheduled direct flights per day. The duration of the non-stop flight from/to Athens is about 40 minutes.

International Routes

There are many international charter flights to Kefalonia from many European countries during the summer. For schedules and fares please contact your travel agent to create a convenient itinerary.

Furthermore, several low cost airlines such as EasyJet & Ryanair operate direct flights to Kefalonia from the UK and Italy.

Kefalonia is connected to the mainland via the two main ports of Patra and Kyllini. Every day there are several ferries available that departure from both ports towards the Port of Sami and the Port of Poros in Kefalonia throughout the year. During the summer period, the routes are increased to all ports of the island and particularly from the Port of Kyllini a new route is added directly to Argostoli and Lixouri almost on a daily basis.

During the summer season from smaller ports of Kefalonia you can also visit other Ionian islands such as Lefkada, Zante, Ithaka and Astakos. Furthermore, shipping companies incorporate Kefalonia to their routes from Italy. There are ships starting their journey from Bari or Brindisi Italy and via Corfu, Igoumenitsa and Sami, they anchor to the port of Patra.

It is strongly advised to contact the shipping companies directly in order to obtain updated and accurate information regarding the schedules and fares as well as make a reservation. Information on schedules can be provided also from the port authorities.

Finaly, the capital of the island, Argostoli, is connected with Lixouri by a local ferry boat that departs every half hour in the summer and every hour in winter. The duration of the journey is only 20 minutes.

By Bus

There are many daily scheduled departures by bus from Athens via the ports of Patra and Kyllini to Kefalonia. Additionally, there are bus services from Korinthos and Patra and again via the two major ports by ferries to Kefalonia.

It is strongly advised to contact the bus service company (KTEL) to get accurate and updated information regarding the schedules, routes and fares. It is important to be at the bus station at least 45 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
